Comet sponsored by Lawson Middle School students
Comet adopted December 31st, 2011
Antek and William during Holiday Faire at Lawson Middle School, December 2011
Antek B. and William S. students from Lawson Middle School in Cupertino decided to give away 50% from sale Weeples for the Peoples and 100% from donations to Humane Society Sillicon Valley. They collected 200 dollars and now sponsoring dog Comet one of Bubble Dog. I have pleasure to introduce to you Comet.
Comet is wishing you Happy Holidays!
Name: Comet
Animal ID#: 10817
Type: Dog
Breed: Terrier, Rat
Primary color: Tri Color Gender: Male
Age: 8 Yr, 10 Mo, 3 Wk
Weight: 16.4
Location: Milpitas Description:
Hello! I'm Comet, spry older gentleman looking for a forever home. I am very energetic and love to explore, take walks, and learn new things, but I am also very calm, quiet, and well behaved at home! I prefer to snuggle with my favorite person in bed. Snuggling is important! I know basic obedience commands, but could use a refresher and an opportunity to learn new tricks to impress everyone. I'm
house-trained, crate-trained, and know how to use a doggie door. I'm also a pro kisser for those opportunities under the mistletoe! I've been waiting for the right peoples for a while; so my adoption fee has been generously sponsored by HSSV through the Homeward Bound Program. Come down to the shelter to meet me today!
Sponsored by Leslie Sullivan, Antoni Bibillo, William Smith and Riley McAllister!

Yogi "I was RESCUED" from the Bubble
Yogi got a tag from Sirius Republic "I was RESCUED". He is with us two months. It seems like he has been with us forever. Yogi is a great student with little help dog trainer Dawna Caldwell founder of Happy Tails to You Dog Training, San Jose, CA. He is much more better on our walks especially when other dogs are passing by, he figure out that people coming to our house are equal good treat, he is excellent with kids and grown ups, even he is more relax about my cats. He got special visits from Karen and Renee Diamond Dog Volunteers, he was so happy and... jumpy when he saw them :) He makes me walk 7-10 miles everyday. Every weekend we are taking him to the beach, last week it was beautiful negative tide at Half Moon Bay.

Rocket - Diving Dog
Life in the Bubble continues to our beautiful Rocket. Today he was trying diving in the creek. He had his head under water and was diving?!
He is an amazing dog, very adventurous and curious creature. After our walk we sat on the bank and had some affection time together, I was scratching his shiny back; he was giving me doggy kisses.

Luna - Autumn Is The Season That Comes Between Summer and Winter
HSSV's Luna begging for once sight of tennis ball |
Luna is another Dog in the Bubble. She is so unique, very well mannered, loves to play tennis ball, and you can make her do anything for one sight of this yellow shape. She was shy in her room today, but once she saw leash in my hand she started arguing with me or maybe she was telling me to take her for a walk the fastest as I can. I took Luna for a walk along the creek, she enjoyed running next to me, and after she found herself relax in the fall leaves.

Cheesy Rocket and Shiny Lacy
I missed couple of weeks coming to the Bubble. Rocket is still here. He is a little bit over one-year-old super hyper, sweet and cheesy guy. Half-perfect scenario will be foster home for him what maybe lead to adoption. We had almost two hours time together, just giving him sense of normality, out of the Bubble reality.
HSSV's the most cheesy boy, he will die for square of cheese ;) |
Lacy is in foster home, she got adopted February 6th, 2012
Lacy is four-year-old lady, very graceful and sophisticated. We went for a walk to the creek, more we walk I can tell how relax she is, here muscle are less tense. Her fur was a little bit tangled so I groomed her. Check it out how shiny and beautiful she is. Does somebody need companionship? She will be perfect match for you JHSSV's Lacy |

Yogi as a ambasador of HSSV Homeward Bound Animal Sponsorship
Sponsor a pet today!
Click, Click, Click Sponsor a pet today!
For her 8th birthday, instead of birthday presents, Claire asked for donations for Yogi. She wanted him to find a home. Think back to the excitement of being on the cusp of 8 years old... Can you imagine saying... "and for my party, I want my friends to help Yogi. I don't need any presents this year!"
Claire amazingly raised $175 and we celebrated by adding Yogi to our Homeward Bound program. Her gift helped us shine a special light on Yogi who had been waiting and hoping for a home for a long time.
And it worked! We waived Yogi's adoption fees and he was recently adopted by a family who loves him very much!
We're hoping that you're inspired by Claire's generosity. Is there a dog, cat, or bunny at Humane Society Silicon Valley who inspires you? Who makes your heart feel as generous as an 8-year-old on her birthday?
We're happy and grateful to direct your gift directly to someone who deserves to be Homeward Bound.

Yogi - Pumpkin Carving Contest Halloween 2011
Yogi discovered his new talent in pumpkin carving :)
Yogi - Post-Halloween Pumpking Carving Contest |
Yogi Out of the Bubble Dog is doing great. He is enjoying his time at home. On Saturday we were hiking at the Half Moon Bay on the beach where leashed dogs are allowed. Today we went for a 4 miles hike at Stevens Creek State Park in Cupertino. It is great park! Not many dogs on Wednesday morning. We wish people will have dogs on the leash when are approaching another dog. In case of Yogi it is very important, since he is reactive to other ones. He is ignoring more and more distraction in form of squirrels and birds, with dogs hmmm.... maybe little progress, but still dogs making him very nervous, but with good distance and good treats he almost is ignoring them ;).
Yogi was very excited about Halloween Costumes we were dressed for the party, so we needed work with him a little bit showing him that under costumes are people he trust. Halloween decorations made him uncomfortable so I desensitize him letting him smell skeleton and witch doll and reward him with lots of treats.

Yogi - Sleeping is a Medicine to Everything
Yogi is adjusting just fine. He is still guarding our pack and our house. So we are working on welcoming guests part :)
I changed his walking equipment to Gentle Leader head-collar what helps us control Yogi better when he is distracted by other dogs, squirells and some people.
My kids are teaching him different trics like find a toy or finding the hidden treats, open boxes etc.
Yogi is dying for attention, but also is sleeping a lot. He is not distractive, he sleeps well during night in his crate, he loves going for long walks, even we run with him couple times. He is not jumpy, hyper etc.
He is the best dog we could ever wish for :)

Yogi 3 Weeks Later
We took Yogi home 3 weeks ago. Yesterday we popped out a question to say Yes. We adopted Yogi with whole package. His transistion from the bubble is not easy, but we believe with amount of love, patience and good structrure and discipline we will be succesful. He is bonding really well, and responding to training really great.
Thank you for big support in Yogi's transistion from the bubble HSSV Staff Members Nichole, Ali, Minttu, HSSV Diamond Dog Volunteer Karen and President/Founder Our Pack Inc. Marthina. You are awsome guys! We love You :)

Yogi - Dog Out of the Bubble
Yogi was in the shelter since December 2010. He got to Humane Society Silicon Valley almost at same time when I lost my darling Mom. She passed away from brain cancer on Janurary 1st, 2011.
When I saw him first time in April 2011 he helped me to make decision to go through all trainings at Humane Society Silicon Valley Milpitas. I didn’t have big experience with dogs, never had one, but always had huge passion, heart and sensivity to all kind of animals.

I took Yogi home! He is out of the Bubble!
We still have long way to go with his strong dog reactivity, but I believe with right guidance, lots of patience and love he will gain his confidence to deal with it, he is already doing very good.
I wanted to say BIG thank you to all people that helped Yogi in his great transformation. He is all love!

25 Weeks 1 Day
Time is flying I can't believe it is already 25 weeks 1 day volunteering at the greatest place to adopt a pet at Humane Society Silicon Valley, Milpitas. I went through all training from Dog Volunteer 101 to 501 classes. I had a chance to meet awesome people that are driven by the same cause to find our animals new families and to help them have normal life during time in the Bubble.
Definitely I need a new pair of shoes...
